Thompson Rivers University Faculty of Law

The Kim Jensen Memorial International Scholar Award

In loving memory

Kim lived life full-on. Always adventuring, she had an unparalleled zest for life that was an inspiration to everyone around her.

Even though her travel regularly took her away from friends and family, Kim always remained in touch and worked to bring people together. She constantly encouraged the people around her to explore the world and to expand their boundaries.

This award was instituted by the TRU Law Class of 2016, with the generous support of TRU Law, the school’s faculty, and many of Kim’s family and friends. Through it, Kim continues to support inspired students as they broaden their knowledge and expertise by studying law internationally.

In Her Friends’ Words

“Kim was so much more hardcore than me. So, when she asked me to go on a sea kayaking trip off the west coast of Vancouver Island, I figured it was way out of my league. I initially said ‘No,’ but after an extended course of convincing that was equal parts cajoling and encouraging, I agreed. And what a decision. It rained for weeks before we stepped into our kayaks and it rained for weeks after we got back to dock. But, for our whole adventure, the sun shone on us as we explored the beautiful Broken Group Islands, with their white sand beaches, wildlife, and idyllic caves and campsites. I miss Kim every day, treasure her memory, and am so glad she can continue to help people explore through this award.”
